With the 9th largest coast line in the world, the low population density and the high average of windy days, New Zealand is a kitesurfing paradise! No crowed beach around here but instead kilometers of unspoiled pristine and deserted coast-lines for your enjoyment with so many different conditions: shallow bays, surf beaches and river mouth to allow anything from flat water to wave riding: the perfect place for kitesurfing tours!
Only one challenge: being at the right place at the right time! Timing wind, tides and swell to a spot all with respect to you ability and needs is very hard, and that is where a good guide is essential! Andrew has been perfecting his local knowledge since a really young age and refining his skills in adventure tourism since 20+ years. With him, no more “you should have been here yesterday” but true action and enjoyment.
Transport in the OceanXtreme custom bus allows maximum flexibility to respond to the feeling of the moment: full-length roof racks to store large amounts of equipment, possibility of towing a trailer with an inflatable boat and self-catering kitchen facilities: whatever will happen, we will be ready for it!

Tropical North (Beginner to advanced)
Discover the warm north, kitesurf its flat clear waters or ride the waves while doing a down-winder and enjoy the multiple water sport activities thanks to our inflatable boat!

Heading to the far north, we will stop on the way up at the best location for a kite. We will then base ourselves on the Karikari peninsular: a world class kitesurfing destination with spots that face all the directions of the compass within 30 minutes! The crystal clear waters and the white sand of the beautiful Karikari beach (voted as one of the most beautiful in the world!) equal any tropical lagoons without any harsh corals! We will adapt to the wind and its direction to get the best sailing spots everyday, using the boat to access usually unreachable places, or having the bus travel beside us on the beach as you are doing a downwinder, allowing you to stop at any time…5kms, 20kms…or more!! And if that is not enough, there is even more exiting adventures to be done like fishing, snorkeling or diving (one of the best spots in New Zealand for it!) as well as dolphin watching, wakeboarding or surfing!

Wild West (Intermediate to advanced)
Discover the untapped potential and the unspoiled secret spots of the west coast, kitesurf its magical harbors and river mouths and ride the waves of the Taranaki coastline’s reef breaks, one of the on average windiest spots in the world.

Heading south on the west coast, we will stop for some awesome harbour sailing, using the tides to carry us up wind to either the waves or sand banks with water so flat that you would think there was no wind at all! The wind in the Taranaki area is accelerated by the curved coastline and the volcano Mt Taranaki, allowing any wind direction to work with the numerous reef breaks: the waves and setup here have to be seen to be believed! Be prepared for awesome wave sailing where the waves are so predictable it makes even the bigger waves easy to ride, breaking in the same place all the time meaning not having to crash back out through the surf! You can then make it more or less challenging for yourself by kitesurfing closer to the pocket or on the outside shoulder. This place is also a surfers dream with great fishing and snorkeling opportunities for even more exiting adventures!
